For the fourth year in a row we are going to do the Polar Plunge!  Come join us and invite all your friends!

Join FS Patrick and his wife at Holy Rosary's New Year's Eve Party! Mass starts at 6pm and the party afterwards. A full Italian buffet with drinks plus a night of dancing awaits. Tickets are $80 and can be purchased via the link. FS Patrick's family has gone for years and iPGK Jack had a great time last year too. Let's have a great night with our northern neighbor!
Good evening Brother Knights,

Let us be the first to wish you a Happy Advent! As we have mentioned, O'Boyle Council will engage in penitential practices in the Advent season, which begins tomorrow, December 1st. This would be a great exercise for us as part of spiritual growth and for reparations for the sins within the Church right now.

We recognize that everyone has busy schedules at this time of the year and is at different parts of their spiritual journeys. With this in mind, we can engage in some spiritual practices as a council together. Our recommendations include:
1. No meat on Fridays
2. Fast once per week
3. Attend a weekly Rosary group
4. Make a personal sacrifice (e.g. give up chocolate, coffee, soda)

We will also off Brother Knights the opportunity to "pair up" with another council member to engage in additional spiritual practices and devotions. You and your Advent Buddy could decide on what level you want to practice, and how you will support each other during this season. If you are interested, please contact DGK James Marafino.

Here are some other ideas for your and your Advent Buddy to foster a stronger spiritual life:
1. Daily spiritual reading
2. Daily Mass or more frequent Mass during the week
3. Liturgy of the Hours
4. Divine Mercy Chaplet

We hope this upcoming Advent season is fruitful and beneficial as we all prepare for the coming of Christ.

Vivat Jesus!

Good evening my Brothers,

Over the past several months, many of you and your families prayed for our brother Kevin Nolan and his wife Claudia, as she battled cancer. I am sorry to deliver the news that Claudia peacefully returned to our Lord yesterday. At the time of her passing, Kevin was holding her hand and praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

I ask all of you to please keep Kevin and his two sons in your prayers during this extremely difficult time. Additionally, please pray for Claudia, and the safe journey of her soul to heaven. Finally, I ask that all of us be as available to support Kevin however you are able.

As Knights, we have an obligation to stand with our Brothers at all times. That means we can enjoy each other's company in our happiest moments, but also means we help raise each other up in moments like this. We often talk about charity, unity, and fraternity in our meetings and degree ceremonies. Claudia's passing will demonstrate to our council how those values are alive in our lives. Just as our forefather Knights were there for the families of their Brother, so too will we be there for Kevin and his family.

We will share information about the Memorial Mass as soon as it becomes available. Until then, please keep Brother Kevin and his family in your prayers in the coming days.

Fraternally,

Patrick Roehm
Grand Knight, O'Boyle Council

As always, please let us know if you have any ideas. Thanks you for all you do for our parishes and our council.

Vivat Jesus!

The Emperor Karl League of Prayer

Service in Commemoration of Blessed Karl to take place in Afghanistan on 27 July

Czechia Embassy will host a Service with First Class Relic and Reception in partnership with the Knights of Columbus Blessed Karl Kabul Roundtable.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– The Emperor Karl League of Prayer is delighted to share that a service in commemoration of Blessed Karl with an opportunity to venerate a First Class Relic and prayers for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan will be held in Kabul, Afghanistan at the headquarters Camp RS R.O.C.K. Chapel on Saturday 27 July 2019 at 14:00.  All are welcome at this event hosted by the Czechia Embassy, and in partnership with the Knights of Columbus Blessed Karl Roundtable, and the chaplain of HQ Resolute Support.

Following the service there will be a reception with a brief presentation on Karl’s ties to the Czech people.  The Czechia Embassy invites attendees to, “learn about the last King of the modern-day Czech Republic: a man dedicated to peace and family.”

The Knights of Columbus Blessed Karl Kabul Roundtable acts as a satellite to the Patrick Cardinal O’Boyle Council 11302 based in Washington, D.C. and works to connect Knights who are currently deployed in the Middle East, particularly in Kabul, Afghanistan.  The Roundtable’s patronage under Blessed Karl helps emphasize the Roundtable’s work in advancing the values of Christian soldiership in the areas of peace, the family, and the love of God and neighbor.

"Blessed Karl continues to serve as a saintly teacher of the Catholic faith,” Roundtable Chairman Patrick Abbott said. “Now he and his memory are uniting people from a country that was instrumental in defeating the Central Powers, a Czech military which traces its roots to the resistance against the Habsburg Empire, and other Resolute Support allies in the war-afflicted land of Afghanistan.  Together we hope to celebrate his memory and be inspired to work for peace."

ABOUT THE EMPEROR KARL LEAGUE OF PRAYER

The Emperor Karl League of Prayer promotes the canonization of Blessed Karl of the House of Austria who, as Emperor Karl I and King Karl IV, reigned in Austria-Hungary from 1916-1918. The League invites new members.

Karl was supported from childhood by the prayers of a group of people, because the religious sister and stigmatist, Sr. M. Vincentia Fauland, prophesied that he would suffer greatly and be attacked. After Karl's death this group developed into the Emperor Karl League of Prayers for Peace Among Nations, which introduced his cause for beatification in 1949, and has had ecclesiastic recognition since 1963 as a prayer society. Through his life and dying, Emperor Karl has encouraged and strengthened the faith of many people. Inspired by his spirituality, the Emperor Karl League of Prayer continues to pray today.

Good morning brothers,

Thanks to everybody who could attend our July business meeting last night. We discussed some great program ideas, and the leadership team and I look forward to a productive fraternal year.

One of those programs is another council sports team. Trustee Tom Dunne is organizing a kickball team for the second half of the summer. This team will also be in the Volo City league and play on Thursday nights, starting in mid-August. Our softball team has been a great addition to our programs, so let’s keep that momentum going.

If you are interested, the registration deadline is the end of the day today. Here is the link: https://app.rivall.io/l/5ce6f8a318cd5800219a6047

As always, thank you for all you do for our council and parishes. Please let me or the leadership team know if you have any new ideas.

Vivat Jesus!
