Brothers,
A great meeting was held yesterday. We had some very good sharing involving the chalice in honor of Ed Dever and how we are planning to use it for a mass dedicated to healing the harm done by recent Church scandals. Many thanks to Father Bede for being such a great chaplain. Also, Patrick Roehm is our new Deputy Grand Knight so be sure to congratulate him when you see him.

Here’s where we are with upcoming events

***Social Meal this Saturday***
Grand Knight Jack recently got the job he was gunning for. To celebrate we’re meeting up at 6pm this Saturday (the 15th) in the basement of St Peter’s (5pm vigil Mass is available to anyone who wants to go). We’re then going to go out for Mexican food. If you are interested in coming please RSVP to FS Patrick so we can make sure we don’t forget anyone.

***St Joseph Picnic Support***
St. Joseph's Parish Picnic is coming up this Sunday (the 16th). Typically, the Knights have sold tickets for a parish raffle as well as selling separate tickets for which may be traded in for beer. Preparations will start around 9:30am and cleanup will start around 2pm.

***St Peter’s Oktoberfest***
The Knights have been asked to provide bartenders (in lederhosen) as well as security (no drinking and lederhosen not required) for the upcoming Oktobefest celebration at St. Peter's on the 22th of September at 6pm (directly following the 5pm vigil Mass). The parish will supply brats, veggie burgers, hot dogs, fixings, plus beer, water, and pop. If you are planning on going socially please bring your favorite German side, potato salad, or dessert (enough for 8-10 people). A donation of $10 per person and $30 per family is suggested to help cover costs of this wonderful event.

***Final NatsMass**
Two words: Balkan Burgers. Final NatsMass is on 23 September. Please show up at 11am at St Vincent de Paul to help out. RSVP if you can help and so I know how many Balkan Burgers to make.

Our first Grand Knight and Past State Deputy of the District of Columbia discusses Warriors to Lourdes on EWTN during the 2018 Supreme Convention.

Congratulations to Blake Dutton and Sam Phillips for becoming Second Degree Knights.  Sam also took the first degree immediately prior to the second.  Welcome to the order!

On Wednesday, the 25th of June, Grand Knight Jack Heretik and Past Grand Knight Patrick Abbott lead the dedication ceremony for the ultrasound at Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center.  It took 90 days to raise enough funds for the machine because of donors from across the country.  Bishop Dorsonville blessed the machine in front of donors and staff.  DC was the last district in the United States which did not do an ultrasound initiative.  Also, no pro-life pregnancy center had an ultrasound machine.  Now all that has changed.  Despite all the obstacles and doubts, GK Jack's vision succeeded because through unity we can do charity.

You can learn more about the dedication from these articles in the Catholic Standard and The Federalist

Sir Knight Brother Otto Heck, who is the State Deputy for the District of Columbia and has served O'Boyle Council through roles such as Grand Knight and Financial Secretary, is now the proud father of a bouncing baby boy!  Be sure to congratulate Sir Knight and Lady Heck and say hello to the baby if you can!

"Today, the Knights of Columbus is providentially positioned to play a key role in the new alliance between the Church and the family called for by Pope Francis … What is necessary now is our greater involvement in the renewal of parish and family life."
