Good morning Brother Knights,
It's the middle of January, which means it is officially March for Life season! We will do a lot for the March, and the council and our parishes can use all the help we can get. There's tons of opportunities for you and your families to get involved:
**March for Life - Friday, January 24. Volunteers needed all day at Saint Peter's and Saint Joseph's to help with hospitality and organization. Any amount of time or any task you can volunteer is needed and immensely appreciated! The attached document lists where we will need assistance in more detail.
**Overnight Adoration - Thursday, January 23 into Friday, January 24. O'Boyle will sponsor overnight adoration leading up to the March. Keep an eye out for a more detailed email and sign-up opportunities.
**Movie Night - Saturday, January 18 at 7:00 PM in the Saint Dominic's basement. O'Boyle Council and Proverbs 24 will show the movie Unplanned, the story of a Planned Parenthood manager who converted to the pro-life cause. Note that the movie is rated R for graphic abortion scenes, so it may not be suitable for all audiences. Popcorn and soda will be provided. This powerful film will be a great way to prepare for the March for Life the following week.
Some additional upcoming events:
*Novena for Life - Keep an eye out at our parishes in the week leading up to the March for Life. The Knights will supply prayer cards for a novena for respect for life.
*Men's Day of Service - Saturday, January 18 at the Saint John Paul II Shrine. Spiritual reflection and packing bags for Cup of Joe. Begins at 9:30 AM.
*Proverbs 24 Witness Day - Saturday, January 18. Proverbs 24 is a pro-life group that operates at several of our parishes. Witness Days involve going as a group to pray at an abortion clinic for the unborn and their mothers. Volunteers can also help make lunch and provide hospitality after the prayers.
*Polar Plunge - Saturday, February 2. Join your brothers in jumping in a pool of freezing water to benefit Special Olympics. If jumping isn't your style, you can always donate in support!
*Memorial Mass for Claudia Nolan - Sunday, February 2. Brother Kevin Nolan will hold a memorial Mass for his late wife, Claudia. It will take place at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Bethesda Retreat Center (7007 Bradley Blvd., Bethesda, MD 20817). All are welcome to attend in support.
*Usher Ministry Training - Saturday, February 8. Saint Peter's is looking to expand its usher ministry. Attend the training session and daily Mass, starting at 8:30 AM, if interested. If you cannot make it but are still interested, email Paul Poulin (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
*February Business Meeting - Wednesday. February 12. Join us for the February business meeting, starting at 7:00 PM in the Saint Dominic's parish hall.
As always, please let us know if you have any ideas. Thanks you for all you do for our parishes and our council.
Vivat Jesus!
